As someone born and raised in Japan, who enjoys Japanese food daily and has experienced the essence of Japan through practicing Kendo and Judo since childhood, I will share the captivating charm of Japan from the perspective of a resident.

Japanese Culture and Traditions

In this blog, we will first explore a wide range of themes under the category of “Japanese Culture and Traditions,” including the historical charm of ancient capitals like Kyoto and Nara, the beauty of elegant Kimono and Yukata, the delicate worlds of Tea Ceremony and Flower Arrangement, the history of the Samurai conveying the spirit of Bushido, visits to Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples where you can feel mystical power, traditional performing arts such as Kabuki, Noh, and Kyogen, the profound world of Japanese crafts (ceramics, lacquerware, woodwork, etc.), the vibrant Japanese festivals and annual events that color the seasons, the Japanese culture that lives on in modern anime and manga, and even the philosophy of Zen, which lies at the root of Japanese spirituality.
I also hope to share insights gained from my experiences with Kendo and Judo, such as etiquette and the Japanese spirit.

Next, in “The World of Japanese Food,” we will delve into the artistry of taste found in Sushi and Sashimi, the comparison of national dishes like Ramen, Udon, and Soba, the basics and recipes of Japanese cuisine that can be enjoyed at home, the blessings of fermentation such as Miso, Soy Sauce, and Sake, the world of healthy Shojin Ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine), and the Kaiseki Ryori (Japanese haute cuisine) filled with the spirit of hospitality. As someone who eats Japanese food every day, I want to convey its depth and the appeal of seasonal ingredients more vividly. We will also thoroughly explore all aspects of Japanese food, from popular street foods like Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki to elegant Wagashi (Japanese traditional sweets) and Matcha sweets, as well as food culture experiences such as cooking classes and market tours, and the unique local gourmet dishes found in various regions.

Japan Tourism

n the “Japan Tourism” category, we will introduce attractive tourist spots throughout Japan, including breathtaking scenic spots like Mount Fuji, Shirakawa-go, and Takeda Castle Ruins, the vibrant cities of Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka, relaxing hot spring resorts nationwide, historical castles, ruins, and museums, and national parks and hiking trails where you can fully enjoy nature.
We also plan to provide information on the beautiful scenery of the four seasons, lesser-known hidden gems, popular theme parks, convenient transportation within Japan such as bullet trains and local trains, and travel tips including visa, transportation, and accommodation information.
Based on my own experiences traveling within Japan, I am confident that I can provide more helpful information.

The Japanese Spirit

In the “Japanese Spirit” category, we will deeply explore the mindset of the Japanese people, including the spirit of thoughtfulness and “Omotenashi” (Japanese hospitality), the culture of “Wa” (harmony) that values balance, reverence for nature, diligence and sincerity, politeness, a sense of community, the spirit of self-sacrifice, adaptability to change, the power within stillness which is the spirit of Zen, and the unique aesthetic sense of Wabi-sabi.
I also plan to delve deeply into the Japanese spirit and etiquette that I have learned through my years of practicing Kendo and Judo, drawing on my own experiences.
